How to crimp a cable correctly
Proper crimping of the tubular cable lugs onto the cable, is essential for durability. When copper gets in contact with oxygen, the copper is oxidized and form copper oxide. The copper oxide is green to the color and acts as an insulator. It prevents the power from coming forward and is a disaster for charging.
With a tin cover around the copper thread you protect against the oxygen and causes the cable to stay intact longer.
To protect the cable, the crimping is critical. Crimping tools, cable lug and cable must fit together. With hexagonal crimping, the oxygen may not come in and oxidizes the cable. Therefore, we offer a wide range of tinned products.
Make your installation correct from the beginning, and save yourself from some extra work later on.
Below is a movie showing how to crimp a cable properly. Unfortunately it is on swedish with no text yet. But watching it anyway, might make you wiser on how to crimp in a correct way.
